SASANIAN KINGS. Ardashir I, 223/4-240. Tetradrachm (Billon, 26 mm, 13.76 g, 10 h), Mint C (Ktesiphon). MZDYSN BGY 'RTHŠTR MRKAN MRKA ('Worshipper of Lord Mazda, 'God' Ardashir, King of Kings' in Pahlawi) Draped bust of Ardashir I to right, wearing diadem, earflaps and tiara decorated with star. Rev. NWRA ZY 'RTHŠTR ('Fire of Ardashir' in Pahlawi) Fire altar with diadems. SNS I, pl. 3, 33 (same obverse die). Nicely toned. Flan crack, otherwise, good very fine.
